Ghaziabad Landlady Murdered Over Unpaid Rent, Body Found Dismembered in Suitcase

A shocking incident of brutality has come to light from Ghaziabad’s Rajnagar Extension, where a landlady was allegedly murdered by her tenant couple after she went to collect pending rent. The crime occurred at Aura Chimera Society on Wednesday and has sent waves of fear and outrage through the residential community.

According to police, the victim, Deep Shikha Sharma, wife of Umesh Sharma and a resident of M-105 at Aura Chimera Society, had gone to a tenant’s flat to collect rent that had reportedly been unpaid for the past five to six months. When she failed to return home for several hours, concerns began to grow among her family members and domestic help.

Neighbours became suspicious after noticing that Deep Shikha Sharma was last seen entering the tenants’ flat in the evening but never exiting. CCTV footage from the society confirmed that she had entered the flat, raising alarm when no footage showed her leaving. Acting on this suspicion, society residents went to the flat occupied by the tenant couple.

Upon entering the premises, residents allegedly discovered Sharma’s dismembered body stuffed inside a suitcase and hidden under a bed. The accused couple reportedly attempted to flee the scene but were restrained by residents until the police arrived.

The police were alerted immediately and reached the spot without delay. The accused, identified as Ajay Gupta and Aakriti Gupta, were taken into custody. The suitcase containing the body was seized, and forensic teams were called in to collect evidence from the flat.

Divulging details of the case, Nandgram ACP Upasana Pandey said that the police received information about the murder around 11:15 am on December 17, 2025. “Upon inquiry and investigation, it was found that Deep Shikha Sharma had gone to another flat to collect rent. When she did not return until late at night, her maid became suspicious and visited the flat. On inspection, her body was recovered in a red bag from the house,” ACP Pandey stated.

She further added that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law and that statements from family members have been recorded. “Both accused are in police custody, and further legal proceedings are underway,” she said.

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety within gated societies and disputes between landlords and tenants. Residents of Aura Chimera Society have demanded stricter background verification of tenants and enhanced security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
