In a major breakthrough, Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained in California, USA. According to sources, American authorities confirmed Anmol's presence in the country some time ago, prompting Mumbai Police to send an extradition request. The arrest follows the proposal for extradition submitted by Indian authorities, signaling a significant step forward in pursuing high-profile criminal cases involving Anmol Bishnoi.
Anmol Bishnoi has been implicated in several high-profile criminal cases, including the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai, and the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui. Mumbai Police had named both Lawrence and Anmol Bishnoi as wanted in the firing case and filed a chargesheet listing them as accused. Anmol had claimed responsibility for the shooting incident near Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments, leading to the issuance of a lookout circular against him.
Similarly, in the murder of Baba Siddiqui, Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi were accused of orchestrating the killing. Siddiqui was shot dead near his son’s office on October 12 by three armed assailants. Investigations by Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that after Siddiqui’s murder, a prominent political figure from Pune was also on the Bishnoi gang’s radar.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently announced a ₹10 lakh reward for any information leading to Anmol Bishnoi's capture. In 2022, the NIA filed two chargesheets against him, highlighting his involvement in organized crime and plotting against prominent individuals. Last month, Mumbai Police approached the Special MCOCA Court to expedite Anmol’s extradition process, marking another effort to bring him to justice.
Anmol Bishnoi, also known as Bhanu, has a criminal history spanning multiple countries. Accused in the murder of singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala, Anmol fled India on a fake passport and has reportedly shifted his base frequently. He was sighted in Kenya last year and later in Canada. Reports indicate that Anmol faces at least 18 criminal cases and had previously served time in Jodhpur jail before being released on bail in October 2021.
While Lawrence Bishnoi remains behind bars, Anmol, along with their relative Sachin Bishnoi, plays a pivotal role in managing the gang’s operations. From ensuring financial stability to orchestrating crimes, Anmol has been integral to the gang's functioning. Investigations also revealed Sachin Bishnoi’s significant involvement in planning Sidhu Moosewala’s assassination. Sachin is currently on the run and is believed to be operating the gang’s activities from abroad.
The arrest of Anmol Bishnoi in the United States is a critical development in India's fight against organized crime.
