From India’s Most-Wanted Lists to Las Vegas Arrests: Crackdown on Gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria

In a significant breakthrough for Indian law enforcement agencies, wanted gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria have been arrested in Las Vegas, the United States, following intelligence inputs from the Haryana Special Task Force (STF). The arrests, carried out on October 22 with assistance from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), could pave the way for their return to India to face multiple criminal cases, including those linked to murder, extortion and organised gang activity.

The arrest of  gangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria in the United States marks an important development in the investigation of criminal networks that have expanded beyond India’s borders. Haryana STF is coordinating with American authorities and central agencies to facilitate their deportation to India, where both face serious allegations and multiple pending cases.

Himanshu Bhau: A Key Name in Gang Rivalries

Himanshu Bhau, whose actual name is Himanshu Ritoliya, had allegedly travelled abroad using a passport issued in the name of Himanshu Sigroha. He has been among the most-wanted criminals pursued by Haryana and Delhi Police, with investigators linking him to a range of offences, including murder, kidnapping and extortion.

His alleged criminal operations have attracted attention across Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have also pursued international cooperation in his case, with an Interpol notice issued against him.

Bhau is considered a rival of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose alleged criminal network has been linked to several high-profile cases. Reports have also associated Bhau with criminal groups connected to Neeraj Bawana and Naveen Bali. Portugal has featured in reports about his suspected overseas operations, although the precise extent of his activities abroad remains a matter for investigation.

The arrest in Las Vegas could help Indian agencies examine the international links of the network and establish how its alleged operations were coordinated while key members were outside the country.

Neeraj Faridpuria’s Criminal Record

Neeraj Faridpuria, who belongs to Haryana’s Palwal district, was also residing in the United States before his arrest. More than 25 criminal cases have reportedly been registered against him, making him another significant target for law enforcement agencies in the region.

His criminal history dates back several years. Haryana Police arrested him following an encounter in 2012, and a court sentenced him to life imprisonment in a murder case in 2015. The Punjab and Haryana High Court subsequently granted him bail in 2019.

Faridpuria’s name later surfaced in the investigation into the June 2019 murder of Congress spokesperson Vikas Chaudhary in Faridabad. Following the incident, he allegedly fled India, travelling to Canada via Dubai.

Investigators have since associated him with the Bambiha gang, a criminal outfit that has been involved in a rivalry with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Reports suggest that Faridpuria subsequently moved to the United States, where he allegedly worked alongside members of the Himanshu Bhau gang.

He has also reportedly claimed responsibility for a firing incident outside the residence of YouTuber Elvish Yadav. The circumstances surrounding that incident and the extent of his alleged involvement are matters for the relevant investigations.

Delhi-NCR Gang Violence Under Scrutiny

The arrests come against the backdrop of continuing investigations into shootings, murders and gang-related violence in the Delhi-NCR region. Police have been examining cases in which the Himanshu Bhau gang has either been suspected of involvement or has allegedly claimed responsibility through social media posts.

One such case involves the killing of Vijay Kumar, a gym trainer who was shot dead in south Delhi’s Aya Nagar in September. Investigators are examining whether the murder was connected to a longstanding rivalry between families in the village. Police are also verifying a social media post attributed to Bhau that purportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Such cases highlight the challenges posed by criminal groups that use social media to project influence, intimidate rivals and claim responsibility for violent incidents. However, investigators must establish the authenticity of online claims and corroborate them with evidence before drawing conclusions about responsibility for individual crimes.

International Cooperation May Prove Crucial

The arrest of Bhau and Faridpuria also underscores the importance of cooperation between Indian and foreign law enforcement agencies in tackling organised crime. When wanted suspects move across international borders, their apprehension often depends on intelligence-sharing, immigration checks and coordination between agencies in different countries.

For Haryana Police, the immediate priority will be to complete the necessary procedures for bringing the two men back to India. Their return could provide investigators an opportunity to question them in connection with pending cases, examine their alleged overseas links and gather evidence concerning the functioning of their networks.

However, arrest is only the first stage of the legal process. Deportation or any other applicable transfer procedure must be completed in accordance with the relevant laws, and the allegations against the accused will have to be established through judicial proceedings.

The Las Vegas arrests represent a potentially important step in efforts to pursue alleged gang leaders beyond India's borders. Whether the development leads to wider breakthroughs will depend on the evidence gathered, the cooperation of international agencies and the progress of investigations into the criminal cases pending against the two men.
