Families of Injured Delhi Police Personnel Demand Justice, Recount Ordeal After CJP Protest Violence

Family members of Delhi Police personnel who were injured during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest at Jantar Mantar on Friday addressed a press conference, demanding justice for the officers and recounting the traumatic experiences their loved ones allegedly endured while performing their official duties.

The relatives alleged that police personnel deployed to maintain law and order during the demonstration were attacked by protesters with stones, shoes and slippers, resulting in injuries to several officers. They appealed to the authorities to ensure that those responsible for the alleged assault are identified and brought to justice.

One of the most emotional moments during the press conference came when the son of an injured Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) described the condition in which his father returned home after the violence.

"My father's uniform was soaked in blood," he said, recalling the aftermath of the incident. He urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take strict action against those who attacked police personnel, stressing that the officers were simply carrying out their duty to maintain peace and public order.

The family members maintained that the injured personnel had been deployed to ensure the safety of both protesters and the general public but instead became targets of violence. They expressed concern over the physical and emotional impact the incident has had on the officers and their families.

Several relatives said police personnel often face dangerous situations while protecting citizens, but incidents of violence against them frequently go unnoticed. They called for greater public support and stronger legal action against individuals involved in attacks on law enforcement officers.

The press conference comes amid continuing political debate over the events surrounding the CJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar, where clashes between protesters and police had resulted in injuries and multiple allegations from both sides.

Family members said they were not seeking sympathy but justice, emphasizing that those in uniform deserve protection while discharging their constitutional responsibilities. They also appealed to political parties not to politicise the issue and instead support measures to safeguard police personnel on duty.

The Delhi Police has already initiated investigations into the incidents of violence that occurred during the protest. Further details regarding the number of injured personnel, the progress of the investigation, and any action taken against those allegedly involved are awaited.

More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
