The Delhi Police investigation into the violence that erupted during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)'s 'Sansad Chalo' march on July 20 has uncovered the alleged use of a Bluetooth-based communication application by some protesters to coordinate their movements during the clashes. Investigators believe the app enabled participants to remain in contact even after internet services were disrupted, making it more difficult for security agencies to monitor communications in real time.
According to police sources, the application functions through Bluetooth technology, allowing users to exchange messages without relying on mobile data or internet connectivity. Officials suspect that the app was used by certain protesters to coordinate activities during the confrontation with security personnel as the march progressed towards Parliament. Investigators are now examining the app's role in the incident and are expected to seek technical information from its developers and service providers as part of the ongoing probe.
The Parliament March, organised by the CJP, witnessed the participation of thousands of protesters. However, the demonstration later turned violent, resulting in clashes between protesters and security forces. Delhi Police have claimed that more than 100 police personnel sustained injuries during the violence. Following the incident, multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered, and a detailed investigation was launched to identify those responsible for the violence.
The probe has revealed that messaging platforms such as WhatsApp were allegedly used in the initial stages to mobilise participants and coordinate the gathering. Investigators believe that once internet connectivity became unavailable, some individuals switched to Bluetooth-based messaging applications to continue communicating without interruption. Police are now analysing the sequence of events before, during, and after the violence to determine how the communication network functioned.
Investigators are also relying heavily on digital evidence collected from the protest. Around 150 viral videos circulating on social media are being examined to identify individuals allegedly involved in stone-pelting, vandalism, and attacks on security personnel. Officials said the footage is being scrutinised to establish the identities of those responsible for assaulting police personnel and damaging public property.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police sources have alleged that the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar has been "hijacked" by outside anti-social elements. According to the police, these individuals are allegedly blending into the crowd of student protesters before suddenly launching attacks on security personnel using stones, bottles, and other objects, triggering violence within the gathering.
To maintain law and order, Delhi Police have deployed additional paramilitary personnel at the protest site. Officials said the security forces have been instructed to exercise restraint while ensuring public safety and preventing further escalation. According to police sources, the government's current approach remains focused on engaging in dialogue concerning the students participating in the protest, and no directive for stringent action has been issued so far.
The investigation into the July 20 violence continues, with police examining digital evidence, communication records, and video footage to determine the extent of planning behind the clashes and identify all those allegedly involved. Authorities are expected to pursue both technical and legal avenues as the probe progresses.
