Shops, commercial establishments and offices in Delhi's Connaught Place will remain closed after 6:30 pm on Thursday as a precautionary measure in view of the ongoing protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and heightened security arrangements in the national capital.
The decision has been taken to ensure public safety and maintain law and order as authorities anticipate a large gathering of protesters in central Delhi. Security has been significantly tightened across Connaught Place and adjoining areas, with Delhi Police deploying additional personnel, barricades and rapid response teams to prevent any untoward incident.
According to officials, employees and visitors have been advised to leave the area before the closure time to avoid inconvenience. Traffic restrictions are also expected in and around Connaught Place, Janpath, Barakhamba Road, Minto Road and other key stretches, with commuters urged to use alternate routes and public transport wherever possible.
The closure comes amid continuing protests by the CJP over the alleged NEET paper leak issue. Demonstrations have intensified in recent days, leading to increased security measures across several parts of the capital. Authorities have been closely monitoring the situation and have appealed to citizens to cooperate with security personnel and follow official advisories.
Police have stated that the precautionary measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of residents, office-goers and visitors while allowing security agencies to manage the protest effectively. Meanwhile, businesses have been asked to comply with the advisory and suspend operations after the stipulated time. Authorities have also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel to central Delhi during the evening hours and stay updated through official traffic and police advisories.
