In a sharp political attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of perpetuating a corrupt and chaotic regime before 2017. Speaking at a public event in Lucknow, CM Yogi likened the state of affairs during Akhilesh Yadav's tenure to a pack of "man-eating wolves" spreading terror across different districts.
Drawing a vivid comparison, CM Yogi remarked, "Just as wolves are currently spreading fear in certain districts, a similar situation prevailed in Uttar Pradesh before 2017. The uncle-nephew duo [referring to Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav] had their districts divided, each competing in extortion and chaos. It was like the Mahabharata, with every possible familial relationship involved in the loot."
The Chief Minister accused the previous SP government of looting the state and urged the public not to trust them again, despite whatever claims they make. "The people have witnessed their hooliganism and anarchy. They [the SP leaders] may say anything, but the public has seen their true colors," CM Yogi asserted.
During the event held at Lok Bhavan, CM Yogi also responded to Akhilesh Yadav's recent remark about bulldozers. The SP chief had suggested redirecting bulldozers towards Gorakhpur if his party came to power in 2027. CM Yogi shot back, saying, "Not everyone can handle a bulldozer. It requires both heart and mind. Only those with the capability and determination can wield it. Those who once bowed down to rioters will crumble before the bulldozer."
The occasion was the distribution of appointment letters to 1,334 Junior Engineers, Computer Operators, and Foremen selected through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission's (UPSSSC) transparent recruitment process. CM Yogi highlighted the impartiality of the recruitment, stating, "Every district is represented here today. There is no discrimination based on caste or region. Only talent and adherence to reservation rules were considered in the selection process."
He contrasted this with the SP regime's corrupt practices, where appointments were marred by favoritism and bribery. "When the people gave them a chance, they plunged the state into chaos and corruption, inciting caste and religious conflicts. Uttar Pradesh was engulfed in riots for months under their rule. Now, these same people are trying to mislead the public with a new facade."
CM Yogi concluded by assuring the youth of Uttar Pradesh that as long as they possess talent and qualifications, they will have the opportunity to succeed. "If there are any barriers, we will remove them. Those who attempt to spread corruption will have their properties seized and distributed among the poor," he warned.
It is worth noting that Akhilesh Yadav's recent statement about turning bulldozers towards Gorakhpur has sparked this verbal clash between the two leaders. CM Yogi's pointed remarks at the appointment letter distribution event are a direct response to Akhilesh's challenge, reflecting the ongoing political rivalry between the two leaders in Uttar Pradesh.
