The newly elected leader of the Congress Legislative Party Charanjit Singh Channi Chief Minister of Punjab has sworn in today at 11 A.M. at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended the swearing-in ceremony. Mr Channi is replacing Captain Amarinder Singh, who had resigned from the post of Chief Minister on Saturday.
Congress high command has announced the names of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Brahm Mohindra as Deputy Chief Ministers.
AICC Treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal confirmed it, by congratulating Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Punjab in-Charge of Congress party affairs in Harish Rawat said, the next State Assembly polls will be contested under the leadership of Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. Reacting to it, former State Congress President Sunil Jakhar has tweeted, the statement of Mr Rawat is baffling and it is likely to weaken the right of Chief Minister.
