Bumrah and Mandhana Crowned Wisden’s Leading Cricketers of the Year

Indian cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana have been named the Leading Cricketers in the World for 2024 by the prestigious Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, cementing their status as global cricketing icons.

Bumrah's exceptional year saw him dominate across formats. In Test cricket, he took 71 wickets in 13 matches, the highest by any bowler in 2024. He also became the fastest Indian pacer to reach 200 Test wickets and finished the year with a record-breaking 907 rating points in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. His performance in the T20 World Cup was equally impressive, where he claimed 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17, earning him the Player of the Tournament award.

Mandhana's stellar performances in 2024 included scoring 747 runs in ODIs at an average of 57.46, including four centuries. She also led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first Women's Premier League title, showcasing her leadership and batting prowess.

Both players' remarkable achievements have not only contributed significantly to Indian cricket but have also set new benchmarks in international cricket, earning them the esteemed recognition from Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.
