Late Monday night, a fierce encounter took place between the Special Task Force (STF) and four criminals in Shamli, resulting in the martyrdom of Inspector Sunil Kumar. Inspector Sunil Kumar, critically wounded in the exchange of fire with the criminals, succumbed to his injuries at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where he was admitted on Wednesday afternoon. He had sustained three gunshot wounds to his abdomen, causing severe damage to his intestines. Inspector Sunil Kumar had initially opened fire on the criminals with his AK-47 upon sighting them.

Born on September 1, 1990, Sunil Kumar joined as a constable and later underwent commando training in Haryana in 1997. He was inducted into the STF in 2009, where he earned a reputation for eliminating dacoits and criminals. In an encounter on March 13, 2008, he took down Omprakash alias Umar Kevat in Fatehpur. He was also involved in the encounters of Ambika Patel alias Thokiya, who had a bounty of five lakhs in 2008. He was also involved in the operations leading to the arrest of Don Sushil Munch, Badan Singh Baddo and Bhupendra Baafar in 2012-13.

It is noteworthy that late Monday night in Shamli's Jhinjana, an encounter took place between the STF and four criminals.
