Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a pony ride operator known for ferrying tourists from the car parking to the picturesque Baisaran meadow, found himself face to face with danger when terrorists struck the area. Reports indicate that the terrorists, indiscriminately targeting victims based on their religion and forcing them to recite an Islamic verse, instilled fear and panic among the visitors.
In an extraordinary display of valor, Shah attempted to disarm one of the assailants, risking his own life to protect others. Tragically, his heroic effort cost him his life, as he was fatally shot during the struggle with the terrorists.
Shah's family, devastated by the loss of their sole breadwinner, expressed their grief and demanded justice. His father, Syed Haider Shah, recounted the harrowing moments when they learned of the attack and Shah's subsequent injury. "My son went to Pahalgam yesterday to work, and around 3 pm, we heard about the attack. We called him, but his phone was switched off. Later, at 4.40 pm, his phone turned on, but no one answered. We rushed to the police station, and that's when we learned that he had been injured in the attack," he shared with ANI.
The Shah family, now facing an uncertain future without Adil's support, emphasized the need for accountability and justice for their beloved son and husband. "Whoever is responsible must face the consequences," his father asserted, echoing the sentiments of a grieving community that has been shaken by the senseless violence.
