The BJP has undertaken a wide-ranging organisational reshuffle, appointing new state in-charges and co-in-charges across 28 states and eight Union Territories. The changes, announced by party president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday, bring several senior leaders into key organisational roles and redistribute responsibilities across the country.
The BJP has brought about the latest organisational reshuffle. The latest appointments are part of the BJP's broader effort to put its organisational structure in place under Nitin Nabin's leadership. Several prominent leaders have been entrusted with responsibilities in more than one state, while others have been assigned strategically important state units.
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been given charge of both Chhattisgarh and Haryana. Harish Dwivedi will oversee Bihar as well as Karnataka, while Ram Madhav has been assigned Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand.
One of the significant appointments is that of Vinod Tawde as the BJP's in-charge for Uttar Pradesh. Jagdish Patel, Medha Kulkarni, Pardeep Varma and Anant Ojha have been named co-in-charges for the state.
Tarun Chugh will handle Gujarat, while Satish Poonia has been given responsibility for Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Anil K Antony will oversee Goa and Nagaland.
The party has also made several important appointments in other major states. Baijayant Jay Panda will be responsible for Maharashtra, assisted by Amit Malviya, Sadanand Tanawade and Kamaljeet Sehrawat as co-in-charges. Sanjay Bhatia has been appointed Rajasthan in-charge, with Kavita Patidar and Kuljeet Chahal as co-in-charges.
For Delhi, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has been appointed in-charge, with Jamyang Namgyal and Darshana Jardosh supporting him. Sunil Bansal has been assigned Telangana and West Bengal, while Biplab Kumar Deb will oversee Madhya Pradesh.
Other appointments include Mangal Pandey for Assam, Arvind Bhadoria for Andhra Pradesh, Devesh Kumar for Arunachal Pradesh, Shrikant Sharma for Himachal Pradesh and Gajendra Patel for Jharkhand.
In the eastern and northeastern region, Daggubati Purandeswari will handle Odisha, Rajdeep Roy Manipur, Kanad Purkayastha Meghalaya, Bhagwat Karad Mizoram and Mriganka Deo Barman Tripura. Raju Bista has been appointed Sikkim in-charge, while K Surendran will oversee Puducherry.
The organisational reshuffle follows the BJP's restructuring of its central team earlier in August. Under Nabin, the party had announced a new national team comprising 13 national vice presidents, eight general secretaries and 16 morcha presidents, among other office-bearers.
That exercise also brought several experienced political figures into prominent positions. Vasundhara Raje and Ram Madhav were appointed national vice presidents, while Smriti Irani was made a national general secretary.
Nabin retained Vasundhara Raje, Baijayant Jay Panda, Rekha Verma and Tariq Mansoor as national vice presidents. The revamped team also included new faces such as Tirath Singh Rawat, D Purandeshwari, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja and Madhuchandra Kar as national vice presidents.
With the latest state-level appointments, the BJP has now assigned organisational responsibilities across a wide geographical spread. The changes give the party's new central leadership a corresponding structure at the state level, with senior leaders being placed in charge of key organisational units across the country.
