BJP Emerges Victorious in Gujarat Amidst Surat's Political Dynamics

In the midst of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured its first victory in Gujarat. In Surat, the party's candidate Mukesh Dalal has been elected unopposed. The announcement of this will be made by the Election Commission. The scenario changed in Surat a day before with the cancellation of the nomination paper of Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani. BSP candidate Pyare Lal Bharati withdrew his nomination at the last minute. Mukesh Dalal is considered close and trustworthy to BJP's state chief C.R. Patil. Dalal is the first unopposed candidate to win in Surat's history. With Mukesh Dalal being the only candidate left in the electoral field for the Surat Lok Sabha seat, he was declared elected unopposed by the Election Commission. The official announcement of Dalal's victory will be made by the Election Commission. Now, the upcoming May 7th will witness votes being cast for Gujarat's 25 seats.

Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani has approached the High Court, but no update has been provided yet. Following the cancellation of Kumbhani's and his dummy candidate's nominations, the events swiftly changed in Surat. Subsequently, speculations regarding Dalal's uncontested victory arose, although Dalal remained engaged in campaigning. On being questioned about his unopposed win, Dalal stated that he would continue to engage with the people and campaign until May 7th.

Mukesh Dalal, who secured the uncontested victory in Surat Lok Sabha, serves as the General Secretary of Surat BJP. Hailing from the Modh Vanik community, Dalal is considered trusted by BJP's state chief C.R. Patil. Currently, he is a member of the SDCSA Committee. He has previously served as the Chairman of the standing committee of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). Before this, Dalal has worked at the state level in BJP Yuva Morcha. Dalal has been a councilor in SMC for 3 terms and served as the Chairman of the standing committee for 5 terms. He has also been the former chairman of Surat People's Cooperative Bank Limited. He holds a bachelor's degree in Commerce and has pursued LLB and MBA Finance. Dalal has been associated with BJP since 1981. So far, Darshana Jardosh has been the Member of Parliament from Surat. This time, the party made a change by fielding Mukesh Dalal.
