BJP Announces New State Presidents for Tripura, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced new appointments for key organisational positions in Tripura, Punjab and Haryana as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the party structure ahead of upcoming political challenges.

According to official appointment letters issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh on May 28, 2026, the appointments were made with the approval of BJP national president Nitin Naveen and have come into effect immediately.

In Tripura, BJP MLA Abhishek Debroy has been appointed as the new state president of the party. The announcement is being viewed as an important organisational move in the northeastern state where the BJP has emerged as a dominant political force over the last several years.

For Punjab, senior BJP leader Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon has been named the new president of the Punjab BJP unit. Dhillon, who has been active in state politics for many years, is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the party’s base in Punjab, where the BJP has been trying to expand its independent political footprint after the end of its long-standing alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Meanwhile, in Haryana, Dr. Archana Gupta has been appointed as the new BJP state president. Her elevation is being seen as a significant move, particularly in terms of enhancing women’s representation within the party’s leadership structure. Political observers believe the BJP leadership is attempting to balance organisational experience with social representation in key states. Harsh Malhotra has been appointed President of Delhi BJP.

The official letters stated that all appointments would take effect immediately. The notifications were signed by Arun Singh in his capacity as BJP National General Secretary and headquarters in-charge.

The reshuffle in state leadership comes at a time when the BJP is focusing on strengthening its organisation across states ahead of future electoral contests. Party insiders say the leadership changes are aimed at energising the cadre, improving coordination at the grassroots level, and preparing the party machinery for upcoming elections and membership drives.

The appointments also reflect the BJP’s continued emphasis on regional leadership and organisational restructuring to maintain its political momentum across the country.
