Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday reiterated the Centre’s firm commitment to identifying and deporting every illegal immigrant from the country. Addressing a public rally in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Shah said the government remains determined to secure the nation’s borders and eliminate illegal infiltration.
The Home Minister was speaking after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various developmental projects worth around Rs 340 crore in the constituency. Stressing the importance of national security, Mr Shah said the government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal immigration and is continuously strengthening border management mechanisms across the country.
During his address, Mr Shah also congratulated the West Bengal government for swiftly allotting 600 hectares of land to the Border Security Force within a week. He described the move as a significant step towards strengthening border infrastructure and enhancing national security preparedness.
Remembering freedom fighter Veer Savarkar on his birth anniversary, Mr Shah paid tribute to his immense contribution to the nation. He said Savarkar devoted his entire life to the service of the motherland and made unparalleled sacrifices for India’s freedom struggle. The Home Minister noted that the younger generation should draw inspiration from Savarkar’s patriotism and dedication.
As part of his three-day visit to Gujarat, Mr Shah inaugurated several public welfare facilities developed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These included the redevelopment of the Jedva village lake, newly constructed libraries, and modern primary school buildings aimed at improving educational infrastructure and community resources in the region.
Later in the evening, the Home Minister is scheduled to inaugurate a new hostel building at the Mata Umiya Dham complex in Sola and unveil the ‘Bharat Mata Square’ at Bhimjipura in Ahmedabad. Both projects are expected to enhance local infrastructure and community engagement.
Mr Shah will also chair a high-level review meeting at the Shahibaug Circuit House in Ahmedabad to assess infrastructure readiness for the upcoming Olympic, Commonwealth, and World Police and Fire Games. Senior officials are expected to brief the Home Minister on preparations related to sports infrastructure, security arrangements, transportation, and other civic facilities.
The visit underlines the government’s dual focus on strengthening national security while simultaneously accelerating developmental initiatives and public infrastructure projects across Gujarat.
