All Hindu festivals should be celebrated on the same day across the country – United Hindu Front urges the Minister of Culture

New Delhi: The United Hindu Front has written to the Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, as well as to the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India, demanding that all Hindu festivals be celebrated on the same day throughout the country.

The organization stated that currently, festivals such as Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ram Navami, Navratri, Holi, Diwali, and Karva Chauth are observed on different dates in different parts of India. This not only creates confusion among the general public but also affects national unity and cultural harmony.

The Front pointed out that the use of different Hindu calendars — Vikram Samvat, Shaka Samvat, Amanta, and Purnimanta Panchangs — has led to these discrepancies. As a result, the same festival of the same deity is celebrated on different dates across the country.

Shri Jai Bhagwan Goyal, International Executive President of United Hindu Front and National President of Rashtravadi Shiv Sena, stated that “Only through the spirit of ‘One Nation, One Festival, One Date’ can India’s cultural unity be truly strengthened.” He emphasized that the Ministry of Culture should form a high-level committee comprising prominent Shankaracharyas, heads of religious institutions, astrologers, and dharmacharyas, to prepare a universally accepted “Unified Hindu Calendar.”

Shri Goyal added that such a calendar would not only enhance the unity of the Hindu community but would also provide future generations with a clear, scientific, and nationally standardized Panchang system.

He further remarked that there is currently widespread confusion regarding the date of Diwali — in some places it is being observed on October 20, while in others on October 21. The Central Government, he said, should intervene immediately and declare a single date so that Hindus across India and abroad can celebrate Diwali together with shared joy and a sense of unity in festivity.

The United Hindu Front has also sent copies of the letter to the Prime Minister and Home Minister, urging that this issue be treated as a matter of national cultural reform, and requesting that immediate action be taken to clarify the date of Diwali so that Hindus all over the world may celebrate this grand festival on the same day with collective enthusiasm and devotion.
