Ajit Doval and Jake Sullivan Lead Second iCET Meeting, Setting Vision for Strategic Tech Partnership

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval chaired the second meeting of the U.S.-India initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) with his United States counterpart Jake Sullivan in New Delhi. This pivotal meeting, held yesterday, marked a significant step forward in the strategic technology partnership between the two nations.

The White House emphasized the commitment of both countries to focus their cooperation on breakthrough achievements in priority critical and emerging technology areas. This includes an emphasis on co-production, co-development, and research and development opportunities. Additionally, there will be an enhanced coordination with like-minded nations to deliver secure, reliable, and cost-competitive technology solutions for the people of the United States, India, and partners around the world.

A notable highlight of the meeting was the acknowledgment of the inaugural U.S.-India-ROK Trilateral Technology Dialogue held in Seoul in March. This dialogue, along with ongoing cooperation through the Quad with Australia and Japan, underscores the broadening scope of U.S.-India technological collaboration.

The two countries also stressed the importance of adapting technology protection toolkits to prevent the leakage of sensitive and dual-use technologies to countries of concern. This is a critical step in ensuring the integrity and security of shared technological advancements.

In addition to the iCET meeting, APNSA Sullivan and NSA Doval convened an industry roundtable that brought together CEOs and thought leaders from both countries. This roundtable aimed to mobilize private sector investment and forge partnerships across strategic technology sectors. The National Security Advisors resolved to support enhanced collaboration across governments, industry, and academia, recognizing the integral role of these sectors in driving innovation and technological growth.

The second iCET meeting not only reinforced the strong bilateral ties between the United States and India but also set the vision for a collaborative future in critical and emerging technologies. The commitments and resolutions made during this meeting are expected to pave the way for groundbreaking achievements and a fortified technological partnership between the two nations.
