Air Marshal Tejinder Singh on Wednesday assumed charge as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), taking over one of the country's key tri-service appointments responsible for fostering jointness and integration among the armed forces.
Marking the occasion, Air Marshal Singh paid tribute to the nation's fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. He also received a ceremonial tri-service Guard of Honour upon assuming his new responsibilities.
According to the Defence Ministry, Air Marshal Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in June 1987. Over a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades, he has accumulated more than 4,500 hours of flying experience, reflecting his extensive operational expertise.
During his service, Air Marshal Singh has held several important command and staff appointments. He has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Radar Station and a premier Fighter Base. He also served as the Air Officer Commanding in Jammu and Kashmir, overseeing critical operational responsibilities in one of the country's most strategically significant regions.
Recognising his exceptional contributions to the Indian Air Force and national defence, Air Marshal Singh has been conferred with several prestigious military honours. He received the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022, and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2026 for his distinguished and exemplary service.
As the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh will play a pivotal role in enhancing coordination and synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force, while advancing the country's ongoing efforts towards greater jointness and integrated military planning.
