Ayodhya, the sacred city echoing with the chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram,’ witnessed a historic and deeply symbolic moment on Tuesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi ceremonially hoisted the saffron flag, the dharma-dhwaj, atop the Shikhar of the newly constructed Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. The event, which coincided with the auspicious festival of Vivah Panchami celebrating the divine wedding of Lord Ram and Mata Sita, marked the formal completion of the grand temple's construction, drawing a line under a centuries-old chapter and heralding a new era of cultural resurgence.
In the presence of RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with a gathering of saints, dignitaries, and countless devotees, the atmosphere was charged with a profound sense of fulfilment.

Addressing the nation from the hallowed grounds, Prime Minister Modi articulated the collective sentiment of millions. "Today, Ayodhya stands witness to a historic moment of cultural awakening," he declared. "The nation and the world are immersed in devotion to Lord Ram. Every Ram bhakt’s heart is filled with deep satisfaction, immense gratitude, and divine joy as centuries-old wounds are healing."

More Than a Flag: A Symbol of Civilisational Resurgence
The meticulously designed saffron flag, measuring 10 feet in height and 20 feet in length, is rich with symbolism. It features a radiant Sun representing Lord Ram's brilliance and valour, the sacred Kovidara tree, and the primordial ‘Om’ symbol. The Prime Minister elaborated on its deeper significance, stating, "This dharma-dhwaj is not merely a flag; it represents the resurgence of Indian civilisation. Its saffron colour, Sun, ‘Om’, and Kovidara tree reflect the glory of Ram Rajya. This flag embodies resolve, success, and centuries-old dreams coming to fruition."
He described it as a testament to collective societal effort, the unwavering devotion of saints, and the realisation of long-held aspirations.
A Moral Compass for Society
PM Modi further elaborated on the ethical and moral message embedded in the flag. "This flag will inspire that even if life is lost, promises must be kept," he said. "It conveys the principle of a duty-driven world and hopes for a society free from discrimination, pain, and fear, fostering peace, harmony, and well-being for all." He stressed that the flag is a symbol of responsibility, integrity, and the ethical spirit of the ideal Ram Rajya.

The Prime Minister also showcased Ayodhya’s ongoing transformation into a city that seamlessly blends its ancient heritage with modern infrastructure. "Work to beautify Ayodhya is ongoing. The future city will witness a seamless blend of tradition and modernity, where the Saryu River flows alongside development," he said. Noting that over 45 crore devotees have visited since the Pran Pratishtha, he highlighted the resulting economic prosperity for the region, positioning 21st-century Ayodhya as a model for urban development.

PM Modi framed the flag-hoisting as the final rite of a sacred 500-year-long yajna. "Centuries-old wounds are being healed; a 500-year-old resolve is being fulfilled. Today marks the completion of a centuries-long yajna and the dawn of a new era of cultural celebration and spiritual awakening," he proclaimed, reinforcing that this moment is a powerful reflection of India's timeless devotion and cultural unity.
