Odisha police have neutralised 5 maoists today. In an operation based on intelligence input, the Kalahandi police launched an anti-naxalite drive along the border of Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts. During the operation an exchange of fire took place between the police and the naxalites at around 11 a.m. today, leading to the neutralization of four ultras. Later, during the search operation in the area, the dead body of another maoist was also recovered, taking the toll to 5. 2 SLRs and 4 country made rifles were also recovered from the spot. According to the police, in the shoot out that lasted for about an hour, one jawan of the Special Operation Group was injured, who has since been evacuated for medical treatment.
