The 6th Operation Ajay flight landed in New Delhi last night. MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, 143 passengers including two Nepalese citizens arrived onboard the flight. They were welcomed by Minster of State for Steel and Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste at the airport.
Meanwhile, India sent humanitarian aid to the strife-torn Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. It reached Egypt last evening. Indian Ambassador Ajit V Gupte handed over the relief material to the Red Crescent for onward transmission to Palestine via the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza. The material includes essential life-saving medicines, surgical items, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets among other necessary items.
So far, around 1,200 passengers, including 18 Nepalese citizens, have been safely flown back from Israel under 'Operation Ajay,' and more flights may be sent as needed, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, said the central government was assessing the situation in Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas. He denied any reports of Indian casualties in Gaza but added that one Indian national had been injured in the attacks.
