Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a spirited address at the Swavalambai ground in Wardha, marked the anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana by urging artisans to embrace entrepreneurship. Launched with the aim of empowering traditional craftsmen, the scheme has made significant strides in its first year, benefitting over 6.5 lakh individuals with modern machinery and toolkits.
Empowering Traditional Occupations
Prime Minister Modi underscored the scheme's impact, highlighting the distribution of loans amounting to ₹1400 crore in the past year. These loans, up to ₹3 lakh each, have primarily supported beneficiaries from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, aiming to enhance productivity and income stability in their traditional occupations.
Support for Skill Development and Women-Led Startups
In conjunction with the anniversary celebrations, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated two key initiatives by the Maharashtra government. The Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Center will provide free training to youth, equipping them with essential skills for diverse industries. Additionally, the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme aims to bolster women-led startups, fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurial spirit among women entrepreneurs.
Infrastructure Development for Employment Generation
Highlighting the government's commitment to economic growth and employment creation, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the PM MITRA textile park in Amravati district. Spanning 1,000 hectares, this ambitious project is projected to generate 100,000 employment opportunities and attract investments exceeding ₹10,000 crore.
Commemoration and Digital Innovations
To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Modi unveiled a commemorative stamp issued by India Post, symbolizing the achievements of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. He also distributed digital ID cards, skill certificates, and digital loan sanction letters to over 1 lakh beneficiaries. Additionally, he personally distributed Vishwakarma loan benefits to 18 beneficiaries at the event.

During the event, Prime Minister Modi explored the theme pavilion showcasing artisanal products and engaged directly with artisans, acknowledging their contributions to India's rich cultural heritage and economic fabric.
