Noida International Airport Set for Takeoff: Commercial Flights to Begin from June 15

In a major boost to India’s aviation sector and regional connectivity, Noida International Airport has announced the commencement of its commercial flight operations from June 15. The long-awaited greenfield airport project in Uttar Pradesh marks a significant milestone in enhancing air travel infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR) and western Uttar Pradesh.

The airport, inaugurated earlier by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has now received the crucial approval for its Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. This clearance confirms that all security frameworks, operational systems, and procedures are fully compliant with regulatory standards, paving the way for the start of passenger services.

Airlines Ready for Operations

India’s leading carrier IndiGo will operate the first passenger flight from the airport, marking the official launch of scheduled services. It will soon be followed by operations from Akasa Air and Air India Express. Detailed schedules, destinations, and passenger services are expected to be announced shortly.

Modern Infrastructure and Seamless Connectivity

Developed to meet the rising demand for air travel, the airport features state-of-the-art terminal infrastructure, efficient operational systems, and strong multimodal connectivity. Designed with passenger convenience in mind, it aims to deliver a seamless and hassle-free travel experience while enabling airlines to operate reliably and cost-effectively.

Currently, the airport includes one runway and a passenger terminal with an annual handling capacity of approximately 12 million passengers. However, its long-term master plan envisions a massive expansion, with the capacity projected to exceed 70 million passengers annually in phases.

Economic and Regional Impact

The launch of commercial operations is expected to significantly strengthen regional connectivity, linking the greater Delhi region and western Uttar Pradesh with key domestic and international destinations. Beyond connectivity, the airport is poised to act as a catalyst for economic growth by boosting tourism, facilitating trade, and attracting investment to the region.

Officials describe the facility as a “world-class airport” that blends Swiss efficiency with Indian hospitality. In addition to modern travel amenities, the airport will offer a wide range of commercial services, enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Sustainability at the Core

In line with global environmental standards, the airport has also emphasized its commitment to sustainability. With a focus on achieving net-zero emissions, the project incorporates eco-friendly design principles and environmentally responsible operations, setting a benchmark for future infrastructure development in India.

The opening of Noida International Airport is more than just the launch of a new aviation hub—it represents a transformative step in India’s infrastructure journey. As operations begin on June 15, the airport is set to redefine air travel in northern India while driving long-term economic and regional development.
