Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, president of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow after his health deteriorated due to an infection. The veteran seer is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of a team of doctors.
According to the information available, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das was shifted to the hospital after developing health complications linked to an infection. Hospital authorities are closely monitoring his condition, though no official medical bulletin detailing the severity of his illness has been released so far.
This marks the second time in 2026 that the senior religious leader has been hospitalised. Earlier in January, he was admitted to the same hospital after suffering a decline in his health. Following medical treatment, he recovered and was discharged.
During his January hospitalisation, Yogi Adityanath visited Medanta Hospital to enquire about the seer's health. The Chief Minister met Mahant Nritya Gopal Das and held discussions with the doctors treating him to review his medical condition.
Mahant Nritya Gopal Das has faced multiple health challenges in recent years. In April 2022, he was admitted to Medanta Hospital after complaining of a urinary tract infection. Medical examinations at the time diagnosed him with a kidney infection, chronic renal failure, and a urinary tract infection (UTI), requiring intensive treatment.
He also contracted COVID-19 during the pandemic and remained under medical supervision for several days before making a full recovery and returning to Ayodhya.
At around 88 years of age, the senior seer has remained under continuous medical care due to age-related health concerns, with periodic hospital visits for treatment and monitoring.
Born on June 11, 1938, in Mathura, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das is one of the most prominent Hindu religious leaders associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He serves as the peethadheeshwar (head) of Mani Ram Das Ki Chavani, one of Ayodhya's largest and most influential temples.
He has been closely associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement for decades and headed the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, a trust formed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in 1993. He was appointed chief of the trust in 2003 and has played a significant role in the campaign for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
In 2001, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das survived a bomb attack in which explosives were hurled at him and his disciples. He escaped with minor injuries and continued his religious and public engagements in the years that followed.
As devotees across the country pray for his speedy recovery, doctors continue to monitor his health while he remains under treatment at the Lucknow hospital.
