Celebrating Women Empowerment: All-Women Crew Operates Vande Bharat Express on International Women's Day

On the commemorative occasion of International Women's Day, the Central Railways has achieved a significant milestone by running a Vande Bharat Express with an all-women crew for the first time ever. Departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Shirdi, Train No. 22223 marked a historic moment in Indian Railways' history, showcasing the prowess and leadership of women in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

The CSMT-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express featured an exclusively female team, comprising the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, train manager, ticket examiners, and onboard catering staff. This initiative, lauded by officials and passengers alike, underscores the Central Railways' commitment to gender equality and empowerment.

Shweta Ghone, Passenger Train Manager at Central Railways, expressed her pride in this achievement, highlighting the symbolic importance of the occasion: "If a woman can accomplish the challenging task of childbirth, there's no limit to what she can achieve. Empowered women empower families and, consequently, uplift our entire nation."

Speaking to ANI, Swapnil Nila, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railways, emphasized the railway's ongoing efforts to facilitate opportunities for women across all operational roles. "Indian Railways has always endeavored to simplify and support women in their professional journeys. Today's initiative is a step forward in celebrating the strength, dedication, and leadership that women bring to our organization," he remarked.

The significance of this event was echoed on social media platforms, where the Central Railways shared the achievement as a "proud and historic moment." The post celebrated the resilience and capabilities of women in the workforce, particularly within the realms of locomotive operation and train management.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to 'Nari Shakti' on this special day, recognizing and applauding the invaluable contributions of women across diverse fields. His social media channels were dedicated to showcasing inspiring stories of women achievers, aligning with the government's commitment to empower women through various schemes and initiatives.

As the nation commemorates International Women's Day, the all-women crew aboard the CSMT-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express stands as a testament to India's progress towards gender inclusivity and empowerment in every sphere of life. This milestone not only celebrates women's achievements but also reinforces the belief that gender should never be a barrier to pursuing excellence and leadership.
